Eh, I was ignoring the one on the right. The white ones are the same gen.

Escalade, Yukon, Suburban.

One major issue with new Escalades, Yukon Denalis, and Suburbans:
The chrome trim around just the first two windows.
That empty space around the rear window... *shudders*
Last time it was only on the bottom.
That was okay.
But now it's all the way around and it hurts me. If I were ever to get one I would immediately have to paint that trim black or else have OCD caused panic attacks every time I walked up to my car, which sucks because I love the new Denali XL and Escalade sooo much.
And the more you look at it, the worse it gets.

One costs a lot more.

Escalade, Suburban x2. And I'm kinda ignoring the one on the right.

one piece of crap is worse than the other piece of crap?
one of them is yours?

It doesn't really bother me.

Mine is the one behind the camera.
I would hesitate to call the new Caddy a piece of crap.

LOL!

Personally, the other gen bothers me more since the trim doesn't go across the entire bottom window...I like the new one because it kind of separates the rear and mid-front windows in an elegant way... To each their own.

Its worse on the Suburban since there's no chrome along the door and even worse in person.
Gah! Out, damned spot! Out, I say!
I don't know why it bothers me so much, but it almost ruins the car for me.
Almost .

It is a pointlessly big truck of a thing. Ugly too.

Pointless, perhaps, but that's never meant a car can't be good. The best cars in the world are pointless.
It is a big truck, no arguments there.
Ugly is a matter of opinion.

The one on the left is Tahoe length. The one in the middle is Suburban length. The cheaper previous gen Suburban on the right, is the one I'd want.

I've looked around a previous gen escalade and the quality was appalling, the newer one might be better though I guess.
I just can't get on board with this kind of car.
![]() 12/13/2014 at 19:14 |

That's okay, it sure isn't for everyone.
And yes, I can attest to the fact that the build quality on the old one was a joke, and the new one is excellent. It's a complete 180.

Fair enough. This sort of car is kind of alien to me. It literally wouldn't fit through the street I live on.

Indeed. It's wider than our commercial vans (that have trouble fitting down our streets as it is), costs about 20 times more to tax than my car and uses about 3 times as much fuel.
Not many people can afford to run a car like that here...

The new escalade still looks (to me) like the ugly growth-hormone-injected offspring of a Mercury Mountaineer (front, mostly the lights) and a Volvo 850 wagon (tail lights), that was grown in a test tube with some gm residue from a previous experiment. The black and darker versions look better than the light ones, especially the absurdly-huge C-pillar. At least it's a more cohesive design than the tahoe/suburban (wtf is with those headlamps?! Why not use the face of the Silverado?!) and better executed than the Yukon (which, when the LED running lights are on, looks like stunned/surprised livestock), but daddy's obsession with designing everything with a ruler has gotten boring, and cribbing designs from other companies merely reinforces it.
All that said, is that a Microsoft Store on the left?!
